Description of Position
Responsible for the overall reporting of operating results and the administration of accounting practices. Accountable for planning, developing, implementing and administering financial control, analysis, operating systems and internal control in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, tax regulations and existing federal and state laws.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supporting Operations with timely responses to questions and doing whatever it takes to help the store managers provide great guest experiences.
- Manage the payroll process to pay employees weekly.
- Primary contact between the Accounting department and Operations and is responsible for the resolution of weekly P&L and payroll questions.
- Produce restaurant level P&L data and other analysis for the weekly management
- meetings.
- Oversee monthly P&L close process and ensure that it is consistently completed on schedule.
- Perform detailed monthly review of Store and Corporate financial statements.
- Manage monthly accruals and prepare journal entries where necessary to provide accurate monthly financial statements.
- On a monthly basis review all balance sheet reconciliations and ensure appropriate adjustments are made.
- Maintain and revise, as needed, the financial model that is used to present
- financial results and projections to banks, investors and the Board.
- Prepare the monthly financial package that is sent to the Board and banks.
- Supervise the year-end financial audit and draft the annual report.
- Oversee audits for state sales tax, IRS, insurance and other various regulatory
- agencies, when required.
- Manage a current staff of eight and build a department to support a new unit
- growth rate of 35%-40% annually.
- Work directly with the IT department to continuously evolve the Company’s systems.
- Manage the annual financial budgeting process.
- Oversight of new store construction accounting and collection of tenantallowances.
- Insure that Accounts Receivables are collected on a timely basis.
- Prepare quarterly covenant calculations for the Bank.
- Perform special projects and analysis for the CFO

qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or equivalent
- Certified Public Accountant
- Multi-unit experience in either the retail or restaurant industries
- Excellent organizational, administrative & interpersonal skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of restaurant technology and proficient
- computer skills.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to discern problem areas, and to implement and coordinate resolutions
- Ability to drive process improvements and cost reduction strategies
- Must have the highest ethical standards
- 2-5 years’ experience as a Controller
- Team player, but with ability to be a self starter and to work independently
- Strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Conveys a sense of urgency and projects a positive, proactive desire to support a broad range of initiatives.
- Self-starter, highly-motivated, high-energy
